One of the first users of the Ecoplug in South Africa has been the National Parks Board and their management at the Cape Peninsula Park under the guidance of Mike Brett, a consultant on alien vegetation control. Together with dedicated Rangers and in co-operation with the Work for Water concept, many hectares of vegetation have been successfully treated.

In most cases the Ecoplugs are used by contractors employed by the Park and trained in all aspects of chemical control. Although other methods of vegetation control are used in the Park, the Ecoplug has found a perfect niche in those areas of extreme sensitivity where the dangers of chemical contamination are too great.
